Our man Tyrese Gibson sends word that he has a new number (818) 287-8968. He says he’ll only be checking messages at the new number. The old one will be disabled soon and you won’t get new messages from him unless you call the new one.
Even if you don’t have something to say to him right now, you should call so you get notified when he sends a new message (if you were getting messages from his old line and still want to get them!)
One of the neat things about working at SayNow is that we get to listen to a lot of new musicians and help them get the word out about their music (as well as keep in touch with their fans). Joanna Cotten is a talented new country artist from Memphis who draws her inspiration from a diverse set of influences: rock, blues and gospel, as well as country. I just added her to my playlist for my trip to the Eastern Sierras next weekend (because of course, there’s nothing better than driving through the high desert and listening to really good country music).
She just left a message on her MySpace page telling fans to call and leave messages for her (instead of sending email) so she can check them while she’s on the road promoting her new single (click the last message on the MySpace player to hear it).
Alicia Keys drops a sneak peek of her new single on SayNow!
She just left this message on her SayNow line.
You can let her know what you think of her new single by calling her number (917) 934-3319. The news also showed up in the newsletter below that went out to her fan club and on her website!
So, needless to say, we’re super excited here :-)
UPDATE: If you’ve got comments for Alicia, please call her at (917) 934-3319 and tell her what you think (Don’t leave your comments here! She’s not gonna see them here! Thanks!)
This is a message that Fantasia sent to one of her fans back in May. We think it’s pretty sweet, so we wanted to share it. She’s one of the few artists who actually used our Reply Feature a lot to respond individually to her fans!
If you want to do the same, just press 2 while listening to a message and you’ll be able to record something for the person who sent it.
Soulja Boy is an artist that Loren (our fab artist relations guru) noticed a while back because he was getting a crazy number of messages…and he didn’t even have a dedicated SayNow number - just a text-in code and our flash badge on his MySpace page. He now gets more people calling in to listen to his messages than anyone else! So of course we had to give him a number.
Anyways he just sent this message a few minutes ago…apparently, he wants the ladies to know he’s “looking.” (We’re just tryin to help him out here…so go to it ladies :-)
Edison Glass is one of our favorite bands on SayNow. They’ve got a smaller audience than a lot of the major label artists who’ve signed up with us, but we think this band is going places….not just because they’re really talented musicians, but also because they’re genuinely reaching out and connecting with their audience.
Recently, they’ve been trying our Connect Live feature and it sounds like they’re having fun with it!
We’ve been getting requests for Chris Brown on SayNow since we launched last year, so we’re pretty psyched to say he’s finally got a number. It was announced on his website last week and so far over 17,000 fans have called in! Woo!
Talib Kweli’s new album Eardrum hit stores yesterday and his SayNow number actually made it on the front sticker! (yes, it’s teeny, we know…but we’re still psyched!)
The number is part of his “Say Something, Be Heard” campaign and you can listen to what some of his fans have been saying below.
Whenever we get a huge influx of callers at once, we try to figure out what triggered all of them, so a couple days ago, when we noticed a lot of people calling for MIMS, we poked around and found out that he’d posted a MySpace bulletin with his number. Looks like Mr. This Is Why I’m Hot wants his fans to know he’s listening. He got a 10% increase in subscribers in one day. We hope he really is listening!
Just spotted this on Cassidy’s MySpace page. Cassidy is looking for new talent and asking fans to call and hit him with their hottest 16 bars. The best freestylers win a call back and a chance to record with him - he’s using his SayNow number to hold auditions over the phone. Listen up below
Cassidy got his start by appearing on mix tapes and doing freestyle battles so it’s pretty cool that he’s doing this!
Styles of Beyond is a super talented group from LA and you’ve probably heard their song “Second to None” if you recently saw the Transformers movie. (All of us at the office went to see it the day it came out cause we’re geeky like that.)
Check out these sweet promo pieces they’re giving out on their Projekt Revolution tour. They’ve got their number on them…and they’re promising a good time :-)
I think they need to send me tickets to their show. (That’s right, I have no shame…if you see this guys, hook me up, I want tix!)
Recently we’ve been working on message pages for all of you to make listening to and moderating messages on the web a lot easier. We’ve got a preliminary version of this page up which lets you see all your incoming SayNow voice and text messages as well as your sent messages.
Not to worry though, only messages that you mark “public” will show up on this page - if your default preference for all your messages is “public,” then they’ll all show up.
You can also see your own page via the following url (just replace “yourusername” with your actual SayNow username or the username of an artist you’re interested in).
http://www.saynow.com/yourusername
Features that haven’t been implemented yet but are forthcoming include the ability for everyone to
Favorite messages you like (and easily listen to those favorites on the phone as well as on the web)
Listen to your most popular messages
See your fans / subscribers – we’ll make it easier for you to block the ones you don’t want to hear from and give “superfan” privileges to your favorite ones.
Mark a message as inappropriate (your fans can help you weed out the trolls)
Let us know what you think of what we’ve got so far and where we’re going. We want to make sure we end up in the right place!
Recently, Vanae (who helps recruit and support a lot of our artists and fans) noticed a spike in new subscribers for the band Edison Glass and was wondering why. So she checked out their MySpace page and saw that they just put up a profile pic that includes their SayNow number (which means it shows up everytime they send a MySpace message or bulletin). Given that a person’s profile pic is the first thing people look at when they land on a profile page, that was pretty smart!
