Universal Motown Sin City Party

On Monday night, a couple of us headed down to the Supper Club in SF for Universal Motown’s Sin City CTIA Party. It was super fun! Vanae totally schooled us all at the poker table and Yvonne got to meet another one of her rock heroes. A big thank you to Universal for the invite!

Meet Brian!

Brian Mandler (a.k.a. mr. manhandler), our biz dev director in NYC is visiting us in the office this week so I thought I’d snap a photo :-)

Chris Brown Scavenger Hunt!

cbroadtoexclusive.jpg

Chris Brown just sent out the first clue to his Road to Exclusive Scavenger Hunt! To win a chance to meet him in New York, you have to collect 9 game pieces - each of these pieces can be unlocked by a special code that will reveal two clue paths to the next code. Here’s where you can register to play.

And here’s the first code which he sent only to his SayNow fans.

You might have to scour the streets to find the other codes…and I won’t be posting anymore here so you should call his number to get updates if you want to meet him. (or if you want to win any of the other cool prizes)

Billboard on mobile apps that help people communicate offline

billboardlogo.jpg Billboard just did a nice piece on mobile applications that help people who wouldn’t normally communicate offline to do just that and featured us along with another company called Kadoink.

A number of other social networking services designed specifically for mobile phones have gone live through the years as well, but with little fanfare and even less traffic.

Enter a new class of applications focused less on trying to re-create a social network’s look and feel on mobile devices and more on harnessing the spirit behind them—communication….

You can read the whole article here.

(A wee clarification to this statement in the article “Rather than a widget, SayNow relies on the artists themselves to promote their SayNow phone number in TV appearances, live events or by embedding it in music videos.”

SayNow actually does provide a Flash widget for anyone to embed in their MySpace page or website. The main difference is that rather than relying solely on a widget (which is web based) we also provide a unique phone number that makes it super easy for artists to give out whenever and wherever they want (i.e. on TV and radio appearances, in print collateral, at concerts, at the dentist, on a random street corner, etc.)

Help these guys out

edisonglass_lost.jpg

Oh no! We just heard from Edison Glass and apparently someone broke into their van and stole all the money they’ve made so far on their tour with Blindside, as well as their laptops and other personal belongings. They’re out about $8,000 and their insurance is only covering $250. They also had to pay to fix the van window :-(

We love these guys, so if you can, please help them by making a donation through Paypal to joshua@edisonglass.com or mailing a check to

I’m sure they’d be grateful! (btw, I took the photo above from their MySpace page…it has nothing to do with this unfortunate event…although I imagine that’s what they might have looked like when they got to their van :-(

If You’re Lost…

lostocean.jpgSo…I can’t say I know what’s going on here, but it would appear that John Locke of Lost is telling Charlie to call Lost Ocean and ask them who stole his shoes. I don’t know where he expects him to find a phone, but oh well. Lucky you, you’re not on that god forsaken island and probably do have a phone…in which case, you should give Lost Ocean a call!

They’re a talented new band from Bakersfield, CA and if you’re nice, they’ll probably call ya back.

We have conclusive evidence that they do in fact call some of their fans. Hence, we like them :-)

Favorites!

msgplayer.jpgDo you ever find yourself wanting to save a message you really like so you can listen to it again later on or play it for a friend? Well you can.

When you’re listening to a message on someone else’s SayNow page (or your own SayNow page), just click the “Favorite” button to add it to your list of favorites.

When you’re listening to a message you like on the phone just press 3 to favorite it.

You can find your favorites at the bottom of your SayNow page: http://www.saynow.com/yourusername.

Eventually you’ll be able to listen to your favorites on the phone too, but right now, you can only listen to them on the web…which means you need to sign up if you want to do that. Signing up is free and gives you lots of other options like email notifications (if you don’t want text messages) and much more!
