ABC23 in Bakersfield recently did this story on musicians that are trying new ways to reach their fans (given the overwhelming amount of stuff clamouring for attention on MySpace) and included a little bit on how some of them are using SayNow to connect in a more personal way.

Bands like the Plain White Ts and solo artists like Alicia Keys and 50 Cent all use SayNow’s cell phone social networking tool. Lost Ocean Keyboardist Skyler Johnson said, “We’ll get the message and it will show up on our MySpace and we’ll actually call you back…It’s really cool because fans only normally get to talk to you if you’re coming to their town…

When the Plain White T’s signed up with us earlier this year in January, they were on their way to tour in the UK for the first time ever and Delilah was probably still the siren who gave Samson a haircut in the public’s imagination.

Yesterday they sent this message out and announced that they’ve just been nominated for two Grammys! (both for Hey There Delilah). We’re keeping our fingers crossed for them.

Because all good love stories eventually involve tissues and tears at some point, Mario wants you to call and tell him about it. Maybe he’s gathering inspiration for a new song? Don’t know, but we do know that he’s going to personally call the fan who tells him the best story.

We just got an email from their manager who said “They actually call back every fan individually when they have time” and our numbers are showing that they have indeed been calling LOTS of people.

For those who don’t know, Menudo is a latin pop band whose latest members were chosen during the MTV reality show Making Menudo. The five members are Jose, Chris, Emmanuel, Monti, and Carlos and they all have their own SayNow numbers.

Cassidy’s rap battle and partnership with SayNow was written up in last week’s issue of Billboard! Here are some nice words from Carolyn Williams (J Records Marketing VP)

With SayNow, we were able to quantify the public’s interest in Cassidy, Williams says. This contest had 23,000 contestant entries and 30,000 fan votes. That’s pretty big for a small company. It also reminded consumers who Cassidy is - which is a battle rapper.

There’s a nice article on Blake Lewis in the Ventura Star today called Blake Lewis Takes Creative Control.

Blake was the runner up on the 6th season of American Idol and has been working hard to get the word out about his new album, which comes out next week. He cowrote 12 of the 13 songs on the new album and says, “I’m the first person, really, to have creative control coming off of American Idol.”

Last month he gave his SayNow fans a preview of his new single Break Anotha which they heard when they called in and which you can hear below.
